Theater arts has become a popular field of study over the last few decades. In fact, the Juilliard Drama Department has been accepting and training more students in acting and drama than in other aspects of theater arts as of late. Whereas, philip stoddard artist Juilliard actor, director and vocalist has been a driving force when it comes to the success of the department.

Creating change in the world through arts, music and theater is the goal of individuals, including professors and students at the school. For, while change can benefit individuals, it can also benefit institutions, corporate and educational. As such, the Drama Department will continue to change over the years while holding on the practices and principles which has made it so successful in the present.

Change is often considered a necessity in theater arts, especially when part of a higher learning experience. For, it is important to hold on to the practices and principles whom have made those involved who they are today. Whereas, it is also important to stay dedicated to the art form and continue to relay what it is like to be a human being during different events and times of life. For, most thespians believe it is impossible to be dedicated to any aspect of life if one is not in some fashion relaying that dedication to others.

While there remain a number of unheard voices and untold stories yet to hit the Juilliard Drama Department or stage, newcomers will bring new energy and work in the near future. While some of these whom have attended and performed in the past will still be around for the 100th anniversary celebration, others will have crossed over to the other side. Whereas, the legacy of those whom have crossed over, will live on in the memories of others who attended performances, shared the stage or taught those individuals while at Juilliard.

One actor whom has graced the stage at Julliard and will continue to do so during the coming season will moving on to greener pastures following graduation. For, while originally from Phoenix, Arizona, the actor, singer and director is now based in New York City. As such, once having graduated in May, the actor, director and musician will begin work with the chamber project shortly thereafter.

One independent project which has won the attention well beyond the grounds of Juilliard is that of OperaCamp. For, Philip created and operates a lab where students can gather to create new and interesting operas. In the first year, there were six operas created and performed throughout the school year. In the second year, directors and students are hopeful to surpass six in hopes of creating seven or eight operas, all of which will be original and unique.

The senior drama student will continue to act, direct and sing during the upcoming 50th anniversary season at the school. When asked about favorite credits to date, Philip suggested that Mozart's Don Giovanni, Tommy Albright in Brigadoon at the Chautaugua Institution and the title roles of King Lear, Woyzeck and playing the colonel in the upcoming production of Father Comes Home From the Wars were most notable.

Theater arts will most likely remain at the forefront of Philip's career. While this is the case, the young man also enjoys traveling, yoga, cooking, teaching, volunteering and organic farming. Although, when not in school, Stoddard also finds outlets for music and theater. For example, following graduation he will be adding a unique voice and sound to the upcoming season of the Israeli Chamber Project in New York City as a guest artist.
