Features Of A Full Grain Leather Messenger Bag

By Jocelyn Davidson

Getting from one business appointment to the next with everything you need to be successful can sometimes be a difficult task. Laptops, cell phones and other electronic aides can be cumbersome and heavy to transport especially considering the fact that they are just the tip of the iceberg when assembling the necessary tools of your trade. Many sales people have opted to use a full grain leather messenger bag as the best way to carry all of the items they will need during their daily business meetings.

These useful bags are created out of hides that have been made pliable and supple during the tanning process. Their texture and colors range from natural tans and browns to darker nearly black hues that are sometimes created with dyes or oils that treat the hide. Many oils and cleansers will change the color of a hide temporarily while the oils are being absorbed into the skin.

Equipped with shoulder straps for easy carry purposes many of them also have grips built into the tops for times when a shoulder strap is unnecessary. When an area sustains a lot of stress from carrying manufacturers will reinforce them with steel rivets and in the case of a grip provide a metal bar inside the upper flap to bear the weight and stress. Rivets are also used in other heavy use areas of each bag.

They are built with separate compartments for electronic devices such as laptop computers and cell phones that are padded for extra protection against damage during transport. On the inside you may find pockets that are designed to hold pens and others for business cards and note pads. The main body is wide and deep enough to contain several files when necessary. You may also find hidden compartments in the bottom to keep your money and other small valuables safe.

Many of these bags are hand made by designers that choose to retain the rustic looks that come from using saddle buckles rather than zippers and snaps for closures. The top opening is covered by a flap that is secured to the bottom edge with a steel buckle. This touch gives the bags a distinctive air and enhances the character and appearance of vintage merchandise.

Some manufacturers have added an option of converting the bag into a back pack. The shoulder strap is used to create dual shoulder straps and free up the hands to do other things. There are times when the bag may be too heavy for carrying on one shoulder and other times when you need your hands free to carry other equipment. This added option may serve you well over the years.

The concept of a smaller more versatile means of transporting electronics and other important goods appeals to both men and women. A briefcase can be heavy and clumsy to carry around and does not offer the versatility of having pockets or compartments on the outside for easy access to writing equipment or phones. With these bags the user has full and free access to whatever they may need at a given moment.

With an extended warranty of ten years or more the life expectancy of these bags far exceeds the competition. Many bags have survived into a second generation of use within families.
