The Components Of Oil Painting Reproductions

By Stella Gay

Paintings and simple drawings either on walls, rocks, backside of trees and the ground was among the ways of passing across a message during the ancient times. Modern writing had not been introduced by then but conveniently passed the message intended. It is therefore evident that the art of painting have existed for many years. Today it has been perfected with masterpiece art work resulting from it leading to oil painting reproductions painters.

A lot is put into consideration during the reproduction process. It is not possible to make the exact original copy as it is but a duplicate can be made such that it may be difficult to distinguish it from an original. Similarity is a key consideration. A duplicate should be able to portray every element portrayed by the original. Similar color, paint job, brushes and mode of painting have to be used.

The techniques used to come up with the original should also be the one used to make a duplicate of its own. Mechanical or any electronic device used is out of context in this procedure. One may consider making a photocopy and repainting it while making a duplicate but this is greatly discouraged as it does not promote art.

Specific oil paints are used to make masterpiece art work. Their reproduction should therefore be made of the same quality of coat. If for example only newton premium grade British oil paints were used, they should not be mixed with any other while coming up with the duplicate. This is well documented on an original painter website since they value their work and would not like anyone to lower the standards they set.

Oil paintings are done on premium grade commercial canvas. A painter on the side making the reproduction may want to cut the cost and instead opt to use a plain cloth in place of the canvas. The quality of the two can never be compared as premium grade canvas is professionally manufactured by experts who know the history of painting as well as want to maintain quality.

Size is also a key aspect and should be greatly considered. In no circumstances should the original painting size be altered. All the dimensions should be replicated on the duplicate. This ensures that every element of the reproduction is transferred as it originally was. Size can also be easily used to distinguish an original and fake so it is important in maintaining a silence sense of originality.

Approvals have to be done on a reproduction before it is made available to the public. This greatly help in ensuring that all the key components are well in cooperated as well as maintaining the required standards set. Photographs of a duplicate are sent to experts where the product is expected to pass multiple strict quality control inspections for approval. When it passes this, it is considered fit for the public.

The price of duplicate reproductions varies from that of their originals. In most cases, the reproductions are cheaper. The painters cannot also set prices that are unrealistic. The prices have to be publicly published to avoid cases of extortion in pretence that the art work is original. This is done through the painter website or portfolio.
