The Pro S And Con S Of Using Screen Printing For T Shirt Transfers Designs

By Timothy Lewis

T-shirts can be viewed in one of two ways. The first is as a means of keeping the body covered and perhaps looking good at the same time, while the other method is to used this undiscerning garment as a means to promote a brand or a business, without shoving it down people s throats. And yet, if done right it can be very effective but some important decisions need to be taken about the t shirt transfers designs before anything else.

Firstly, how will the business or brand material be printed. As different ways of printing have different strengths and are suited to some types of functions more than others. One could argue that it s a t-shirt and that as long as what they want printed appears then it doesn t matter what method they used. But those people couldn t be any more wrong.

Another advantage of this specific method of printing is that due to the factor of it being inexpensive, it makes it quite easy to print more and more items of clothing specific to demand. Not only does this save one money overall but it reduces the number of resources being resources.

Lastly, given that screenprinting is a very old method of printing clothing items, it has had a lot of time for people to explore and experiment with the manner in which it can be used. And as such, it has rendered it a very versatile technique when it comes to printing on cotton and poly cotton clothing items.

The downside to this, however, is that the equipment itself is fairly expensive and therefore an undesirable option for home or small business use. Not to mention it is ungainly big and requires a lot of space, and with all that space taken up, it does a pretty slow job at doing the actual printing. Making the machine better suited for once off clothing items rather than mass market use.

By using a hard surface, one can then use an iron or anything that generates heat to iron the transfer paper onto the t-shirt. One should ensure that they have placed that shirt in question on a flat surface because any creases that are there will appear.

The disadvantage of using heat press is that it takes a long time and therefore, it s not recommended for mass printing. Also, the method is only ideal for those who intend on creating and printing material that is in a light color, which means there s a limitation on what can be printed. The biggest disadvantage, however, is that due to the manner in which the t-shirts are customized, heat sensitive garments cannot be used to make custom t-shirts.

There are many ways to customize a t-shirt through printing, but the above mentioned should work best for large scale and small scale printing. Because once everything is said and done, whether the printing has been done professionally or through a DIY method, it s about having a unique item of clothing that can be worn, a way to promote a brand or even be given as a gift to a friend or a loved one or even a colleague
