The Star Trek franchise is possibly the most science-fiction series in history. Only the Stars Wars franchise could claim the same mantel. The longevity of the series can't be argued as it is now entering its 5th decade of entertaining fans throughout the world. The massive ticket office success of the 2009 prequel film led straight to much speculation as regards whether or not a new Star Trek movie would be forthcoming.
The film is presently not titled and it'll simply be released as Star Trek with an accompanying "episode title" underneath the Star Trek logo. Again, the episode/subheading title has not been decided on. The entire primary cast of the first film is returning to the roles which vaulted them into Trekker fandom. There are still plenty of Star Trek rumors that are being talked about with regard to this new movie.
The legendary villain Khan was once seriously considered to make a return in the new Star Trek movie. Even though it would've been engaging to see the return of Khan, his presence would have been terrible as far as the continuity in the series ' timeline is concerned. In contrast to rumors which were circulating, Leonard Nimoy will not be appearing in the new entry in the series.
One reason that there is so much speculation about this film is due to the fact that the script is still be rewritten and changed although the film itself has started production. This should not be taken as a cause for alarm as it is not an uncommon practice among many major motion picture productions. Hopefully, the final product will be on the same par as the fantastic 2009 feature.
Rumors rotating around William Shatner being seriously considered for a role in the film were accurate. Plans did change and Shatner isn't performing a part in the movie. However, Paramount Pictures and all those associated with the production of the film are being quite secretive about its plot. Fans will have to wait until 2013 to learn all of the plot details. The speculation is over as a Star Trek 2013 motion picture has just recently gone into production.
