Mobile Wedding DJ Or Band?: Planning Questions For Brides And Grooms

By Marissa Velazquez

Engagements and weddings are huge milestones in the life of a couple. In between these milestones, however, comes a lot of planning, and that planning can be stressful. In order to make the process and painless and possible, it is important to approach it in an organized manner. Confront the planning question by question. There will be many things to consider, such as how to feed your guests, how many people to invite, and whether to hire a mobile wedding dj or a band.

Hire a wedding planner or plan the event yourself? There are a lot of things to consider when making this decision. If you have a large budget and plan on inviting a lot of people, it may make sense to hire someone to help out. However, if event planning is something you like to do, and you have the time to make the arrangements on your own, that might be the best decision. You could ask your friends to help, which could make the planning more fun.

Should you have a big guest list or a small one? Budget factors in here, too. For some couples, this question leads to a lot of concern. If both people come from big, close families, and want to have many people attend, the cost can easily exceed the amount of money they have to spend. In this case, there are a few options. You could invite only a very few people, or you could cut costs in other areas in order to have a large guest list.

Where should you have the ceremony and the reception? If you are religious, you may want to have the ceremony in a place of worship. Sometimes this costs money, as some churches and other religious buildings require that they people who get married there are members or undergo counseling before the ceremony. This is something to explore and consider. Cost is of course a factor, so you will want to check prices and find out which venues, churches, etc. Are available for a price that fits your budget.

What kind of food should I serve? Lots of couple choose to hire a professional catering service that provides a full meal or a buffet. If the budget does not allow for this, however, you could serve only cocktails and finger foods, or have a meal cooked by relatives or friends.

Who should I have in my wedding party? This is another tough question, especially when you have a lot of siblings or cousins as well as close friends. Some couples end up limiting the party to one person each, rather than having a lot of people stand up and still risking hurt feelings of the people who are not included.

DJ or Band? A DJ is usually cheaper than hiring a full band, unless you happen to know a member of a wedding band who is willing to cut you a deal. However, if you envision a very classy reception and have the budget to hire a band, by all means, go for it.

If you are friends with someone who plays in a band or who is a mobile wedding dj, you may be able to cut a deal regarding the music for your ceremony. Like most things, planning a wedding is harder and more stressful when it is left to the last minute. Make sure that you begin your planning as soon as possibler. This way, you can remember the process of planning the event as fondly as you remember the event itself.
